This sweet tasting Lower East Side treat has been a dentist favorite for the better part of a century now. Since 1937 Economy Candy has been owned and operated by the Cohen family. Today, Jerry Cohen carries on his fathers and father?s generation?s ideals in this one of a kind shop that has remained the life of Rivington Street for years.

As the neighborhood has changed around them, Cohen remarks, ?we?ve stayed the same.? With old and sometimes forgotten treasures such as Sky Bars, Sen-Sen, Black Jack gum and Necco wafers, Economy Candy perseveres as a New York City sweet spot.

Cohen?s Economy Candy provides the Lower East Side and all of Manhattan with a most sensational and sweet tooth pleasing assortment. From international chocolates, hand dipped chocolate cashews, almonds, pecans, cherries and ginger to truffles, licorice, Vanilla Halvah, Marble, Pistachio, Chocolate Halvah and Turkish delight, 108 Rivington Street is doted on throughout the tri-state area.

If it?s not sweets you?re after, try the dried tart cherries, strawberries, bananas and pineapple. Twinings? tea, Droste cookie and cake mix as well as cognac, espresso and rum cordials are always a pleasant surprise. There are tasty nuts, gourmet gift baskets and sugar free chocolates and candies, too.

Ask for Jerry. He?ll be wearing a smile when you see him, Monday thru Friday 9am to 6pm, weekends 10 am to 5pm. To place orders or for information, call 212.254.1531 (1.800.352.454 from outside NYC). Visit Economy Candy?s website at www.EconomyCandy.com to peruse tastes and prices.
