?Hey, Steve, you wanna go to a generically trendy bar with palm trees and East European bartenders??
?Yeah.?
Wait, I?m not totally cynical, because that would be generic. And The Delancey is not totally generic, ?cause if it was it wouldn?t be so happening. I mean, things get done here. People meet. Deals are struck. And life goes on. Yeah. Basically, the Delancey has three floors, dark lighting, palm trees on the rooftop, rock stars in the basement, a fish pond, some fish, a fireplace, no sign, good location, ba ding bing, bad da bang.
I realize we?re not talking Chelsea here. There are no velvet ropes; this is no sexy suburban funhouse. But we?re not going by Chelsea standards, we?re going by the Lower East Side, and by the standards of the Lower East Side, this is so Chelsea. I don?t know. Good people play here. It does have the sultry/ironic lounge thing going for it, but don?t most Lower East Side lounges named after their locations? The Delancey?s OK, but it makes me want to sneak in my own liquor in a paper bag.
